Join District 8 AALAS April 25 & 26, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Seattle in Seattle, Washington for our 2019 District 8 AALAS Meeting! Located in the heart of downtown Seattle, Hyatt Regency Seattle is within a mile of Seattle’s must-see attractions, including the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden & Glass, Pike Place Market, and more.

The 2019 District 8 meeting will be hosted by the Washington, Oregon, and Northern Rocky Mountain Branches of AALAS. This multi-day conference will feature speaker presentations, poster sessions, and workshops designed to help educate and bring new ideas to those in the laboratory animal field. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the Exhibit hall to talk to vendors about new and upcoming products in the lab animal field.

Call for Abstracts The D8 AALAS Seattle Program Committee is now accepting abstracts for presentation (oral & poster)! We are accepting applications for the following categories: 1. Clinical 2. Husbandry/Management 3. Animal Welfare, Training, and the 3R’s Abstracts should be a single paragraph, not to exceed 300 words, with an informative title limited to 20 words. Format and content will follow the guidelines for the AALAS National Meeting. General technical/style information may be found on the National Meeting website under Presenters: www.aalas.org/national-meeting. Abstracts are due January 31, 2019. Submit abstracts via email to Drew Martin martilau@ohsu.edu. Indicate whether you would prefer a 15 minute platform presentation or a poster. Notification of acceptance will be sent by February 20, 2019. 

Posters will be displayed in the hall - attendees are encouraged to visit while the authors are present at their posters to ask questions.

The exhibit hall will feature snacks and refreshments. Attendees will have several chances to view the exhibit hall during breakfast, breaks, and between speaker sessions.

The AALAS District 8 holds an annual educational meeting in the spring of each year. The meeting is rotated between the Branches to allow for greater participation by the local Branch members. Each annual meeting is a three day event running from the opening activities on Wednesday afternoon through the conclusion of the educational presentations on Friday afternoon.

The Branches of District 8 entered into a cooperative agreement with the formation of the District 8 Council whose sole charge is to support, promote, and insure continuation of the annual District 8 meeting and to provide the best meeting for our members.

The current District 8 zones:

  • Northwest: Northern Rocky Mountain, Oregon, & Washington
  • Capitol Bay Area: Sacramento Valley, & Northern California
  • Desert: Mountain West & Arizona
  • South Pacific: Hawaii, Southern California, & San Diego

The current District 8 Meeting schedule is:
2019 – Northwest (Northern Rocky Mt., Oregon, Washington)
2020 – Capital-Bay Area (No Cal, Sac Valley)
2021 – Desert Zone (Arizona, Mountain West)
2022 – South Pacific Zone (Palms to Pines, San Diego, So. Cal)

2023 - National AALAS Meeting - Salt Lake City, UT - October 22-26
